Adobe keeps glitching on me

Hello every one, so I imported a video I made and editing it is just fine (cutting, increasing volume, adding text, etc) but when I add in a picture or add in a whole different video my adobe premiere pro 2020 seems to freeze on me, like I can't press on the tools (razor tool, text tool, etc) I can't even move the playhead. Everything is frozen except the bar by the top of the premiere pro 2020 (file, edit, windows, etc) it's been going on for 2 days for me, and I don't have a fix, if anyone knows a fix, it would be much appreciated.
