Per the Premiere docs at the following link...
Applying transitions in Premiere Pro
It says... "...the default transitions are not applied where a selected clip touches a non-selected clip or no clip at all. ..."
I've used used Shift+D to perform Apply Default Transitions to Selected Clips for the longest time now and know it applies transitions to sides of a clip not touching other clips. Am I reading something incorrectly or missing something here?
This is not a huge deal but I was just looking to see if there was a way to apply both default audio/video transitions with a single keystroke to only the point where selected clips meet, and not the outer edges to non-selected or no clips. However, I can only find a two keystroke method... move timeline pointer to edit point then CTRL+D and CTRL+SHIFT+D. That's fine, just want to make sure I'm not missing some other way... curious what y'all's read of this is thanks. Screenshot and excerpt follow...
You can apply the default video and audio transitions to any selection of two or more clips. The default transitions are applied to every edit point where two selected clips touch. The placement does not depend upon the position of the current-time indicator or on whether the clips lie on targeted tracks. The default transitions are not applied where a selected clip touches a non-selected clip or no clip at all.
Cmd & drag around to select multiple transitions then add dissolve.
Then submit bug report adobe.com/go/wish if you see white border at bottom of record monitor (wrench icon | select composite video to lose)

CTRL+drag around adjacent clips I'd not used before... nice... thanks!

I meant to ask about the latter thing you mentioned... not sure where that fits in "white border at bottom" and wrench icon... is there some issue you had noticed?

CMD (or CTL) + dragging selects edit points and ENTERS TRIM MODE, for some reason.
Having entered trim mode a WHITE LINE appears in Program monitor (see pic) that only goes by selecting 'composite' as the display option (even though it is already set to composite).
Reported via adobe.com/go/wish, but more folks that report it as an issue the sooner it gets fixed

that is correct.
Your example shows your clips don't touch anywhere.
I would use the roll edit and add the transition to one or multiple cuts.

I had not seen that CTRL-drag was actually selecting with a rolling edit, thanks!

I'm trying to set the duration of my default transition. It used to be you'd go to the Preferences Pane and type in the durations there, but you can't do that any more. I've been looking but can't find instructions to do this in CC 2017. Running on a MacBook Pro 2011. Many thanks,
Patrice
