Audio Crossfades Center on Cut

Community Beginner ,
Oct 07, 2024 Oct 07, 2024

The Apply Audio Crossfade Transition and Apply Default Transitions to Selection commands in Premiere no longer apply crossfades centered on the cut point. This was a default and expedient part of my workflow in Premiere that has changed after the update to Premiere 24. Please see the screenshot below for details.

Jesse24628810b3sq_0-1728327223135.png

My previous workflow was as follows.

1. Target the audio track

2. Press X to apply an audio crossfade centered on the cut point

3. Repeat for each cut point that needed a crossfade

Now, my workflow is

1. Target the audio track

2. Press X to apply an audio crossfade centered on the cut point

3. Click and select the crossfade.

4. Navigate to the Effects Control panel.

5. Select Alignment > Center at Cut

6. Repeat for each cut point that needs a crossfade.

This isn't a sustainable workflow and seems to be an update bug.

I am currently running macOS Ventura 13.3.1 and Premiere Pro 24.6.1 (Build 2)

If audio on both sides of the cut have enough handles the transition will go to Center of Cut automaticity.

.

Select cut (e.g. rolling edit tool) > hit ctrl+shift+D (default shortcut).

This is happening even with plenty of handles on either side. The transition is not going to Center of Cut automatically.

Apply Audio Crossfade Transition. I have also tested this with Apply Default Transitions to Selection and experienced the same behavior. I have done this with both the key commands and the right click action menu with the same behavior.

Like Ann, I tried the default on macOS via CMD + Shift +D, @Jesse24628810b3sq. It worked perfectly. I also remapped to a custom keyboard combo. It also worked. I could not reproduce your issue on macOS. Sorry about that!

Now, you might try backing up your preferences file and seeing if resetting preferences helps. If not, you can restore the old file. I assume you have multiple custom shortcuts you'd rather not reset. To reset preferences, press the Shift key and launch Premiere Pro. Choose that option from the Reset Options dialog box.

I'm unsure what else to suggest other than deleting the media cache or reinstalling the app. I hope we can suggest something soon to get you back on track. While we await a response from the team, let us know how we can further help you.

Thanks,
Kevin
