Audio not playing in premiere pro

New Here ,
Jun 04, 2025 Jun 04, 2025

MacOS

36GBRam

1TB SSD

Premiere Pro V 25.2.3

The video plays normally in quicktime with audio.

When importing the video to premiere, the video does not have any audio or waveform when adding clip to timeline.

Hi @ET24,

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums and sorry for the frustration. We need a few more details to help with the issue.

A few questions: If you double-click the imported video to open it in the Source Monitor and play it there, do you hear any audio? When you add it to the timeline and into a sequence, do you mean there is no audio track being added at all, or do you see an audio track but no sound is playing? If the audio track is not being added, make sure the 'A1' on the left side of

If the audio track is not being added, make sure the 'A1' on the left side of the timeline in your sequence is highlighted blue (click on it if not) and try dragging your clip into the timeline again.

What type of file are you working with? Can you share any screenshots of your Premiere Pro window so we can better help and understand the problem?

Hope we can help you soon,

Dani

When you play the clip in the Project panel, can you hear the audio?

When you load the clip into the Source Monitor, can you see the audio waveform?

File is H.264, MP4

No audio in source monitor and no audio waveform in timeline, as soon as it's imported to premiere the audio is gone.

I'm unable to select "A1" on the left hand.

Sorry for the delay @ET24, are you still experiencing this issue? If so, would you be interested in sharing the file so we can take a look?

If you double-click/open the imported file from the Project panel (not your timeline), is there still no audio?
