Audio pieces missing after rendering

Community Beginner ,
Sep 16, 2021 Sep 16, 2021

Dear Community, in Premiere version 15.4.1 I have a perfectly good audio in the preview and while editing the video, but not when rendering the video out.

Every time I render the Video, the audio of a few video clips is missing at random places. It is never the same audio piece that is missing. Sometimes after rendering the same video, a specific video clip has audio and the next time it doesn’t.

Strangely enough, this only applies to one soundtrack. I can still hear mp3s on the other audio track. If I change the audio of the video to another track, I have the same problem there.

The error cannot be cleared by copying it into a new sequence / project. It also happens at different rendering settings.

Any ideas?

Hallo there, this issue has been bothering my mind for a while, I had thought of exporting audio alone and video and then combining them after but that was a long process. What I found as a working solution came after I tried to use a different machine to export and all the sound cam out fine. then I went back to my machine and did the export but without sending it to Media Encorder. That's it.

Simply export using Premiere.

Just trying to help and although I have been accused of being an adobe apologist, I really am not.  But Premiere is my editing tool of choice at this point for many reasons, which I'm happy to detail if requested.

The problem may or may not be variable frame rate footage, but first we need to eliminate the possibility.  Happy to discuss other possible causes but first let's eliminate the frame rate issue.  I have worked extensively in Premiere on a variety of macs and windows for the last 6 or 7 years and never experienced this problem...

I've been working with computer editing systems for a very long time, starting with early avids, moving to fcp1 - 7, and now working in Premiere and Davinci Resolve.    These sorts of problems have always existed.    Besides the variable frame rate issue, smartphone footage is extremely compressed and is not an ideal editing format for transcoding to a "mezzanine" format is always a good idea in my opinion.  Shutter Encoder does a great job and allows you to batch encode directly to a suitable format like the appropriate flavor of prores.   But if you are unable to spend the time and drive space necessary, I suggest you shift to a different editing platform.  I suspect FCPX can probably handle it (since it's an apple product) and it's very reasonably priced, or Davinci Resolve which has a almost full featured version for free and the paid version is also very reasonable.

and I'm not on the Adobe engineering team.  Any NLE is extremely complex and making changes which may seem simple, can be very difficult to acheive without causing other problems.  Apple made the choice to complete rebuild fcp from the ground up when they introduced fcpX to deal with some of these issues.  Adobe and Avid did not when they've updated their systems to work with modern formats and technologies...  T

I'm getting tons of audio drops while previewing a video I'm working on. The audio is there, but as I listen, it will cut out for a few seconds here and there randomly. If I stop and go back, it plays fine, but then later on in new places it drops audio again.

the audio and video are mov files from a Fuji GFX-100. Even with the entire video pre rendered, I'm getting random audio drops everywhere. It's super annoying. Not sure if this happens after rend or not.... still checking.

Adobe Premier 24.0.0, Mac Ventura 13.4, Macbook Pro, Apple M1 Max, 64GB of RAM, with no other apps open.

what are your sequence settings for the audio and what are your source audio properties?  If at all possible, make sure they match and avoid sources with compressed audio.  If you need help with this post back...

Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 16-bit - Stereo Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo

I can't see anywehre that the settings are different. They're both at 48000 Hz.

All the audio is off of a Fuji GFX-100 camera. I've been doing a fair bit of editing lately and this just started happening, but nothing has changed in the file formats I'm using.

what are the source pixel dimensions and codec?  Are you editing off the internal ssd or an external drive?  Regardless, make sure you have at least 20% free space on your startup drive and 10% free space on all other drives.  One easy thing to try, go to premiere preferences, audio hardware and set the input to none.  That sometimes fixes audio problems.

Appreciate the help Michael, but I am convinced this is an Adobe issue. I'm not doing anything crazy or special. Sequence settings and camera settings are the same. It's a high end camera. It's a new laptop (M1), with 64GB RAM, and video is off of a USB drive with 1TB free. I've never had issues with it. The sound skipping out is new and there's no reason it should be skipping. Even after doing a full render it does it sometimes.

thanks

I'm hitting the same problem. I guess cell phone files are not preferred for Premiere. Really annoying, and not planning to convert all the videos to another format to fix this. Adobe should fix Premiere instead.
