AZERTY keyboard instead of QWERTY

Community Beginner ,

Hi,

I just updated to Premiere Pro CC 2017 on my computers and on both of them, the Keyboard Shortcuts window shows me an AZERTY keyboard instead of a QWERTY as I'm using.

I'm on Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11.6) and my keyboard config is set to French Canadian CSA

Do you have any clues on what I should do to show QWERTY keyboard instead?

Thanks in advance!

My best guess is that French Canadians normally use the AZERTY keyboard.

French Canadian is a QWERTY keyboard configuration, close to the US keyboard but with a few little differences, as confirmed by Mac OS X prefs :

It used to work just fine before the upgrade to CC 2017. I had QWERTY keyboard customization. not AZERTY before upgrading.

Looks like Adobe just changed it wrongly while coding the update..

've got the same issue on my Mac Laptop sot it's not only my iMac that got that issue

I had the same problem, with a French Canadian Keyboard (which is not AZERTY). I switched my keyboard Input Source to U.S. and Premiere automatically changed the keyboard configuration to QWERTY.

Any cues on if that issue is resolved on your side? On @Adobe's side?

Same problem for After Effects et Audition. We are in 2020 and the problem is still there.

Same problem here. I am not able to use a lot of shortcuts in After Effects due to the French Canadian keyboard.

It would be great if you could add a layout for the French Canadian keyboard. Because we just have the choice between french which is AZERTY and English which is QWERTY but have a complete difference organization of the keys. Some keys like the square brackets [ ] are impossible to choose.

Add a layout for Canadian keyboard please.

And that's on Mac. I want a LEGACY French Canadian Keyboard which is also different than this.

The differences are the following:

- The key to the left of "1" on the top row registers as "#" (no modifier), "|" (SHIFT), "\" (ALT CAR)

- For the exception of "é", the accents are "dead" keys which allows to put the accents on other vowels suchs as "ô" without modifiers. ALT-é is a "dead" accute accent to add onto other vowels but it's never used in French.

- "tréma" (¨) is moved to "SHIFT+¸" instead of "SHIFT+^".

- "^" is the same with or without SHIFT modifier. It only becomes "[" with ALT CAR.

In all honesty, Adobe should just check what keyboard the OS use and use that. So that, if anybody use Davorak, for example, they can still use Davorak while using Adobe software.

Personally, I just CANNOT type with the "French Multilingual" layout (that's what it's called in Windows). The Legacy French Canadian keyboard is excellent in typing multiple accentuated languages. minus the ~ over the n in Spanish. That's a dead key that's not there and you must use paid software to make a custom keyboard layout to add that (I know there's a free one by MS but it's buggy AF).
