Best format to Export for Blu Ray - h26.4Blu Ray or Mpeg-2Blu Ray ?

Hi there,

I have a 9 min short film that I'm submitting to festivals. One has asked for a Blu Ray.

Footage was shiit on a Cannon DSLR and edited in premiere.

Now, Should I export to h26.4Blu Ray or Mpeg-2Blu Ray or another format that I'm not mentioning ?

I'm looking for the best possible quality for playback and size limit is not an issue as the film is only 9 mins.

Please let me know your thoughts and a answer would be helpful 🙂

Thank you

Christopher

I usually use the h.264. There are presets in Premiere. Since it is only 9 minutes you could up the quality, but I'm not sure you'll see a difference once you put the disk in the player.

Hi Brian704,

Thanks for your input , I did both formats and cranked up the bit rate to the max, and I think h364 looked better on my samsung blu ray & 48' LED TV

H.264 will generally offer better image quality at any given bitrate.

Hi Jim,

Great Thank you:-)  That's what I figured as I heard Mpeg2-Bluray hasn't been updated  in several years.

What about this HEVC( H.265) I see in CC 2017 ?

HEVC isn't part of the Blu-ray spec.

It is part of the UHD Blu-ray spec, if you have one of the new burners, a 4K BD player and a 4K TV.
