Hi Everyone,

I built my PC 4 years ago with an Intel i5-3570K and an NVidia GTX660ti, it has been fantastic until the recent release of PP2017 and now it is starting to show it's age.

I have decided I am doing to retire my PC for a Video Editing Laptop.

My budget is around €1500/$1500, this laptops primary job will be for Video and Photo Editing with the Adobe CC Suite.

The laptop I am currently closest to choosing is the Asus Zenbook Pro, UX501VW.

Spec:

15,6 inch 4K Full HD-display, Intel Core i7-6700HQ, 16 GB, 256 GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M - 2 GB

My biggest fear is that this machine will be unable to keep up with the software in future releases in the coming years, so I would like to try to buy something that will be good for 4-5 years. Do I have to upgrade to something like a GTX1060 for that sort of future-proofing??

I would appreciate any other suggestions for video editing laptops in my budget. !

Thank you for your opinions and help.

Get a Desktop if you want a degree of future proofing.  Laptops are hard and expensive to upgrade and customise.

Get a GTX 1060 for more performance and the fact that you can easily and safely overclock the GTX 1060 for Premiere and you cannot with the GTX 960M.

I feel the proper starting point for a Premiere Pro editing system is multiple, internal hard drives at a 24" 1080p screen.

Since it's just not possible to achieve that with any Laptop, there is no good Laptop for editing.

Build you own desktop.
