Im a beginner on Premiere Pro and learning about applying effects, and im struggling to apply blending effects on any video clip. It just doesnt applies, whatever i try. I looked up to a lot of tutorials, applying effect from within the clip/added a graphic part and tried to apply by that, just doesnt works. And i dont even know would this be happening with actual effects im going to use on a clip. How can i solve this? What can cause to blend/opacity effects to not apply?

Hi Tibet,

I think all you need to do is raise the opacity up from 9% to 100% to see the full effect of the blending mode on the clip or graphic. Drop the opacity back down to taste, but not so low that you cannot see the effect at all. Opacity and modes work "in concert" with one another, I feel.

As a tip, blending modes are much more dramatic when overlaying images with one another rather than text over an image. You can use masks along with opacity to blend the images in a more custom way. That said, you can create text treatments that blend with the background in more interesting ways over standard opacity.

One other tip I can share is to always try a variety of blending modes when experimenting with using them as an effect. You never know what you might come up with, depending on the images and the mode you pick.

Thanks,
Kevin

I did it on purpose so you can see its not working. Even though opacity is at %9, the clip itself is at %100 opacity in editing screen too, because its not applying. Wouldnt change anything if i made it to %0 or %100 percent, because i cant apply opacity/blending mode on any clip. The blending mode/opacity is not working.

What are you expecting to happen? What is the "look" you are going for?

If you apply a blend mode to a clip, it will only affect areas where that clip is opaque over the underlying clip. In this case, it would only affect the actual text and not any of the transparent areas around the text. So if you turn down the opacity of the graphic text, you turn down the opacity of the blend mode as well.
