bounce feature

would anyone else find this useful?

I do a lot of bouncing > render as eg cineform, then re-import.

currently its quite clumsy.  Before I frame a feature request just want to see if it's just me, and to work out how it might work.

The most basic would be to instead of "render selection" you have "bounce selection", and a specified bounce folder. You'd have to specify your bounce settings too.

This would have to be also used a preview, so it probably entails having it in the render preview folder and the bounce folder.  It makes most sense if the bounce folder is where the original media was, by default (in terms of organization).

Also is there a way currently to get premiere to perform all the unanalysed warp stabilzer clips?

Hi Getho

There's actually a handy feature just like you need. It's called "render and replace" It allows you to choose settings and placement of the rendered file. You can even revert back to the original clip if needed at any time in the future.

Hope this helps,

Steve

ahha! as I was writing this I was wondering if there was something similar built-in already.  So often when you do something long-winded and think "there must be a better way", there is

thanks

Depending on your purpose and workflow, you may consider proxies:

For example, see this thread:

Working with Proxies and Cineform Sequences

hi stan, last time I tried proxies they didn't work for me - I shoot at different frame rates and always interpret footage.  besides most of the bouncing I do is because i've got so many things happening to a clip that I need an interim render before doing more:

like zooming into a 4k frame, reversing it, time remapping it, and using optical flow. Sometimes you have to render that before doing grading or warp stabilising).

I have just found out render and replace is not available for nested sequences, which is exactly where they are needed.  What is the point of this feature if not to render interim files so that you can continue to work on a clip? And why the frap is it not supported forr nested sequences?

since i wrote this I have found that there is precisely nowhere in my workflow where render and replace is available.

seems like a waste of space, needs an update
