Bug: escape key doesn't exit Export Mode

Self explanatory: escape key only intermittently works to exit the Export Mode.

Workaround is to select a drop down menu then hit escape which does seem to work.

Works fine for me on Windows and 23.3

Try resetting preferences.

Resetting preferences didn't help. I'm on a Mac 23.3
