I often use the scroll wheel to scrub clips back and forth in the program monitor. The trouble is that, if I scroll too fast, it stops scrubbing sequentially and jumps over large sections of video. I never want this to happen. I want it to scrub sequentially as fast as it can without ever skipping any frames. When it makes those jumps it's always confusing and it takes a minute to get back to where I was. I haven't been able to find any settings that control this though. Is it possible to fix this or will I forever have to be delicate with my scrolling?
Thanks!
Hmmm... I just tried something and it seems to works well. I can scroll with my scrollpoint up/down over the program monitor and it jumps like we've said. However, if I scroll sideways over either PM or timeline it will scrub either way without jumping clips. It goes to a moderatly fast scrub. So you might want to see if that works for you. I played with the Timeline mouse preferences also, but it didn't change the above. I think these are the default settings buy you might want to check them.

You should be able to adjust scrolling behavior in you mouse software or in Windows.

No, this is a Premiere function. I guess my title wasn't very clear but the post itself I thought was. I don't want the scroll wheel to do something different than normal. I want Premiere to not scrub so fast that it jumps large sections of footage when I scroll.

Change the scroll setting to a slower scroll.

Premiere's program monitor is not affected by the system's scroll speed settings. This is something specific to Premiere.

I see what you are talking about. I'm surprised you can get that to jump using the scroll wheel. I have a 'scroll point' mouse which does do that if I crank it down or up. I can only get to happen over the program monitor, it doesn't do it over the timeline?

Yeah, it only happens over the program monitor. The vertical scroll wheel does nothing over the timeline. Only the horizontal scroll wheel works on the timeline (for me at least).

That's Preferences/Timeline.
I've left mine on Vertical since that post, and I'm liking it more and more. 🙂

Hi there, I just wanted to add that you can use the SHIFT key to give your scrubbing a boost, but so far I still have not seen a feature added that will help directly control what you're looking for. Cheers!
PS: I'm jealous because my mouse scroll button does not rock side to side!
