can I import part of a clip from an sd card

I don't want to import a full 8gb 4k file from an sd card but just need a few clips from it.

Is there a way to import parts of a clip from the card and leave the main file on the card?

Import just a part of one clip (answer is no) or several single clips from the card then the answer is yes.

Just copy the desired clips to HDD and then import into Premiere.

You can import the file, cut it, and export it to a virtually lossless format like ProRes, Cineform or DNx .

Then import that file into Premiere Pro.
