Premiere CC, video clips can't sort by "date created" in the Project panel?
Title edited by Mod
Ah! I was referring to the Project Panel where there doesn't appear to be an option to sort by date created. At least, not one that I can find, not even by editing the metadata.
Got it !
Project panel > Metadata Display > Basic > Date Created
...in the Project Panel; List View, click on the Date Created column head to select it as sort criteria.

Use Bridge to batch rename them with the date. I suggest 20141023-clip0001 for example. Year / Month / Day makes for an easy sort.

This suggestion was truly a time saver! Although for some reason Bridge would only show the creation date info on the modified date column but still, this helped tons!

This "answer" does not work. You cannot sort by this column. Unbelievable. It's like most basic function of a computer. Wow.

It is broken. As I said, rename your files to include the date and sort that way.

Yeah, but I don't have time to rename all of my files. I'll probably just go back to Final Cut Pro! The future is in sortable, smart folders...I don't want to be a clerk. This is insanity.

It is certainly up to you, but it is unlikely that it will stay broken in future releases.

Thanks for your post. It solves my problem to.
Using the list view is the solution.

This has in fact not been solved as of today. You can add the 'date created' as one of the columns as described above. But you can not however sort by clicking on the column header as with the other column headers. A good workaround is to sort the files in explorer and drop them on the timeline from there. That works for me. I must second that I am very disappointed with the amount of bugs and counter-intuitive behavior of Premiere Pro as opposed to FCP7. And it is also slow as heck with rendering compared to FCP7 (up to 5x slower rendering ProRes), even on my brand new i7, 32GB RAM and GTX970. There are definitely some good things about PP, but as a professional, I have to look at how much time it costs me to be constantly running into delays and I must be looking into a more stable work experience.

unbelievable that 4 years later in premiere pro cc I still have to rename my files to be able to sort them after date/time created. I´m speechless.

Just tried sorting clips in Premiere Pro by creation date and the time is wrong by four hours. How to fix this?

Once I follow your steps the problem I am having with my video clips is that Premiere Pro is displaying the wrong Creation Date time! It says the clips were created four hours earlier than they were. Meanwhile, Windows 10 is displaying the correct Creation Date time. What setting do I change in Premiere Pro to fix this and be able to sort my video clips by the correct Creation Date time? I subscribe to Premiere Pro and have the latest version and all updates are current.

Guys, simple work around here:
Sort by date created or date modified in your finder or explorer and drag those files into your timeline. Doesn't SOLVE the issue, but it at least serves as a work-around for the time being.

Genius! Better than all the answers above. Upvote!
Can't believe this actually works while it does not seem to work in bins..
