I have a mac pro running el capitan with a new NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 gpu card. I'm trying to get cuda working in premiere pro cc 2015 but can't get the option to enable in the project settings. I've downloaded the latest cuda drivers for my system and installed them properly, I can see they are installed in my system preferences. Ive tried the whole thing where you go into the application contents and add a cuda_supported_cards file and everything. Any suggestions?

When Adobe came out with the first CC version they dropped the entire code within PrPro that looked for GPUs on that list. Since then it just looks for hardware it recognizes has X options on it.
Normally recognizes GPUs as it should. Sometimes blows it. Sometimes removing the GPU and its drivers followed by a complete reinstall does the job. Sometimes reinstall of PrPro has done it. Maybe someone else will have something other to try.

Regrettably, you will have to buy a new GPU. Adobe has discontinued support for all Tesla-architecture (GeForce 8, 9 and 200 series, Quadro CX and FX series) GPUs in its Mercury Playback Engine beginning with the release of CC 2015.3.
In other words, your FX 5600 is obsolete in Adobe's eyes.

So should I not bother trying to reinstall the card and premiere as Neil suggests? Also would this card be able to run CUDA with an older version of premiere?

This card will run with an older version: 2015.2 and earlier.
