can’t edit text

New Here ,
Nov 18, 2025 Nov 18, 2025

Hi, I’m having a serious issue. Suddenly I can no longer edit any text in Premiere Pro, whether it’s a normal text layer (Graphics) or a Subtitle entry.

I tried reinstalling Premiere Pro, deleting preferences, and clearing cache, but the problem persists.

Symptoms:

  • Cannot edit text in Graphics

  • Cannot edit Subtitles

  • Cannot rename items in the Project (ex. timeline, media)

  • Right-click menus sometimes don’t appear

  • Only Premiere Pro is affected (other apps work normally)

Environment:

  • macOS Sequoia 15.7.2

  • Premiere Pro 25.5.0 (Build 13)

If anyone has seen this issue before or has a solution, I would appreciate any advice.

Hi @perofukuda -  Thanks for submitting your bug report. We need a few more details to try to help with the issue.
Please see, How to Report a Problem.

What happens when you try and edit text?

Does this happen if you create a brand new project?

Can you try and hold down "SHIFT" while launching Premiere and check the boxes
"Reset app preferences" (Backup Preferences first)
"Clear media cache files"
"Reset plugin loading cache"

Sorry for the frustration.

I'm seeing you found a solution to this, but I'm not sure I want to go through that process. There must be some other solution to this?
