Can't find button for captions

Hi,

There's an image in the article below (under Fix Captions Not Showing) that shows a speech baloon for turning on captions when you've clicked the plus sign:

How to Add Subtitles in Adobe Premiere Pro (Tutorial) - Motion Array

But when I click the plus sign, the captions button isn't there. I've looked into these fixes below, but I can't make the button show up:

'Add Captions' Button Disappeared - Adobe Support Community - 12215051

I've reset Premiere's preferences and reinstalled Premiere. Then I did everything you can when holding Alt while launching Premiere, which is resetting preferences again, clearing media cache files, reset plugin loading cache and disabling third party plugins. I've tried the plus sign in the Editing and Captions and Graphics workspaces. But that captions button won't show up. I'm on Windows 11 and Premiere Pro 2023. Help!

Ann is correct. Also, the button you are looking for no longer exists. In PR versions in 2021, captions show by default. How to show and hide them in preview is found in the header bar of each caption track (eyeball).

When watching tutorials make sure they match the version you are using. Premiere is changing rapidly.

Captions are now added through the TEXT panel.
