Community Beginner ,
Jan 23, 2018 Jan 23, 2018

Hi, i recently bught Premiere Pro to create and edit videos, this evening, when i was trying to open a mp4 file it says the the file can't be open because the program can't handle it.

Is it a my problem or is possible that Premiere don't support .mp4 format?

Thanks in advance.

MP4 is a wrapper, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing - For Windows Internet Explorer press the PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard, and then do CTRL-V to paste the screen print from the clipboard into a forum message

Free programs to get file information for PC/Mac http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download

- when you analyze your file in MediaInfo and post a screen shot in the forum, do so in TREE view

Does your video use a Variable Frame Rate? See https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1110005

If yes, use https://handbrake.fr/ open source transcoder/converter to convert to Constant Frame Rate

For those using nvidia shadowplay, read https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2188814

NEW PPro version 12.0 and above support VFR https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2441553

Premiere Pro can manipulate a MP4 file perfectly, maybe your file is corrupted. Can you play it by opening it from your Windows Explorer or Finder?

I have the same problem, I can not see and edit the DJI Mini 2 films on Adobe Premiere Pro, even the films can not visible in Adobe Media Encoder as default. |I am beginers on Premiere, but i am dissapointed how the Premiere Pro Working. The films can be easy open and edit in Premiere Rush, but not on Pro. In Premiere Pro the folder is empty, even no JPG. It looks that in some folder i can see the media, whensome others is empty.

Hi william_710,

We're sorry to hear about this. Which version of Premiere Pro are you using & are you getting any error codes or messages when you try to import the media?

Thanks,

Sumeet
