Can't upload video to Make The Cut

I've been trying to upload my entry for Make The Cut since last night. I first tried it with my video's size at 190 MB. Left it to upload overnight, and when I woke up this morning, nothing's happened. I then compressed my video, making it only 99 MB instead of 190 MB. I tried uploading it, and it still won't do anything. I brought the size down to 50MB, and still, it doesn't upload. I'm stuck in the upload page just waiting for nothing. What could be the problem here?

    Hey Everyone,

So, I can see that most have you have received their canned response that essentially said, "Blah blah blah, it's not legal for us to change the deadline and we know 100% that our servers weren't to blame despite the blanket problems." While we can all agree that it's unlikely that they retroactively analyzed their server performance, I take real issue with the statement that said they couldn't legally change the deadline. According to the Official Rules that we all agreed to:

"16. DATES & DEADLINES/ANTICIPATED NUMBER OF ENTRANTS: Because of the unique nature and scope of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right, in addition to those other rights reserved herein, to modify any Voting Period date(s) or deadline(s) set forth in these Official Rules or otherwise governing the Contest. Sponsor cannot accurately predict the number of Entrants who will participate in the Contest."

They have written right into the rules that they can change the deadline however their hearts desire! Can everyone please start emailing them, quoting this rule and telling them you know that what they said was untrue? I kind of want them to deal with a small uprising from us so they know that they can't just lie to us as a way to brush us off. I know it probably won't result in anything, but it's only fair that they have a hellacious few hours trying to deal with us when we wasted so many hours working on our projects and attempting to upload them. Call it a #WasteAdobesTime campaign, if you will.

    Thanks!

We are reviewing challenges for a small group of users in uploading by the deadline and will respond to those who have already emailed us in the next 24-48 hours.

This is the only answer I'm receiving and it's not even coming from an official Adobe channel.  So the whole 24-48hr deal is up and the created gmail account informed me they are not accepting late entries basically, even though I wasn't late avoiding accountability for an error on their side.  Or at least that's what I'm being told.

    Email Recieved: adobemakethecut@gmail.com

"Hi John,Thank you for your follow up note. On behalf of Adobe we would like to express a sincere thank you for your participation in the Make the Cut editing contest. We hope that you enjoyed working with the exclusive footage from Imagine Dragons’ Believer video.  We know that you devoted considerable time to creating an amazing cut. Unfortunately, we are not legally able to accept late entries to be judged as part of the competition, but we DO want to see your cut.

We are always inspired by the unique ways that our community is using Premiere Pro and if you’re willing, we invite you to share your file with us over email.  While it cannot be formally submitted as part of the contest nor eligible for prizing, we would love to have our team of video experts take a look at your work.  If you haven't already, please share a link to your video file prior to April 14.

In addition, we encourage you to share your cut with your community and include it in your personal portfolio, including posting to Behance.

Thanks again for taking this journey with us and Imagine Dragons.

    Sincerely,

    The Make the Cut Team"

    To which I replied:

"I know this looks like an angry email based on my lengthy response, but I ensure it's not.  I had some points and questions I was curious about. Maybe some grief too =)  I at least highlighted some portions for skimming.

There's no really good way to display emotion through an email, especially when I'm probably noted for being annoying about this issue I'm sure.  I genuinely love Adobe products and am annoyed however how this was handled. I get it trust me I do, that you guys have to do damage control for the minority of people that entered the contest on the 8th and had an issue.

To say you can't legally accept late entries? Despite being a problem from the Adobe page? That my entry was on time... Again why not just state that right off the bat instead of the 24-48hr thing going forward. I don't know what method results in less complaints, but at least it'd help the forum moderators out.  Steering people away from the main site to a Gmail account probably cuts the flaming on forums in half.

"Hi, We are reviewing challenges for a small group of users in uploading by the deadline and will respond to those who have already emailed us in the next 24-48 hours. Stay tuned!" Stay tuned for what? I know why, but you said you legally can't accept late entries now so obviously this was going to be the response the whole time. Just say that.

I appreciate the the offer to send the footage, but lets be honest what for? No one that receives it is going to look at it and if someone did, I'd get a keep up the good work and thank you for continuing to be a Creative Cloud customer.

    1. I'd upload my stuff to YouTube now I guess,  unlike all the people that disqualified themselves by uploading to YouTube first before the deadline, but I can't I don't own any of the music or footage.
    2. Does that also pertain to Behance? Am I allowed to upload stuff from this contest legally for no monetary gain despite not owning it?

I have no hate for Adobe, I truly mean I love your guys software even if this is a throwaway email to a gmail account that will cease to exist in 24hrs.

I was prepared to send various methods to provide proof that my entry would not be classified as "Legally Late."  My video submission had 2 flickering problems that presented during rendering but not prior during scrubbing and playbacks.  I was just going to send it as is cause it was minor but annoying and allowed me to submit on time until the site didn't submit my form.

If you guys love Adobe software as much as I do, could you at least do me a solid and teach me some resolve to why flickering clips sometime show their ugly head after render and not before.

I read a little online that mentioned it about a certain effects placed on other video improperly or along those lines can do it. I found a way to work that particular one deleting clips affected and re-applying to timeline.  Then it happened to me on another clip that consisted of  2 nested clips fused rotate both with key frames together.

Any tips to avoid flickering clips before render basically?

Well thank you for not keeping me in suspense at least any further.  I wish you guys the best of luck with the contest despite. I'll keep on editing.

Truth be told I had a blast cutting this footage for what its worth, so thank you for tthe opportunity.  Still annoyed I have to explain that to people who watch me fall off the Earth to edit this footage forfeiting eating and sleeping.  Woe is me, have a good night guys and gals.

    Take care,

Did you resolve what was introducing the flicker in two of the source clips after export?

Adobe please, this is so disheartening.  I spent so many hours straight getting more and more familiar both with Premiere and sifting though footage for countless hours splicing and editing.

I'm doing the same thing as others here.  I still have Chrome open with the little arrow on the page spinning in circles.  All my stuff is checked off, my video even plays in the little upload preview window.

I was a creative cloud member for a while and only had the 5 day trial of Premiere which I even upgraded after expiring to continue editing this week.

Not asking for a hand out, but just out of good faith can we get a grace period of like a day, or some other method. Maybe an email to send our videos too. The saved video files have timestamps for when they're created when inspected.

I just want what I/we made out of a labor of love to be seen. I don't care if you guys even trash it right after we email it somewhere. I just don't want to lose out because of a technicality with the site.

Not sure what I'm expecting, but any info would be greatly appreciated even if you guys flat out say no.

    Thank you,

    -John Zebrowski

I just signed in to let you know that I feel your pain because I had the same problem uploading the file. The only difference is that I eventually gave up after 4 hours. I emailed the support team but no response yet. It is really disheartening after all the work I've done on the project. I hope they extend it.

I had the same problem as everyone here. Tried uploading well in advance of the deadline last night, but it never seemed to complete. Tried starting again in a different browser and got the same result. Emailed support and never heard back. Got up this morning and the browser is still just sitting there with the yellow button and spinning arrows. It would be nice to at least know if it happened to make it through—kind of a bummer if I wasn't even able to enter my edit because the upload wasn't functioning properly.

    April 9, 2017

Has anyone repeatedly received an error message when attempting to upload, along the lines of "invalid file format or server error?" I tried uploading in almost every file format to no success with a 55 mb file, then got locked out of the site after midnight. I've been looking for the past hour to see if  else has been experiencing this same problem?

Fingers crossed, hope things will work out for all of us, and our hard work wasn't wasted!

No error message on my end, just wont submit. The lil yellow arrow icon at the bottom of the submit entry page keeps spinning.  I still have it up as of now too at 1:55 am from when I submitted it before 11:59, no luck yet.

Fingers crossed on extension grace period from Adobe.

Same here, I still have a "spinning arrows" yellow box. I have also screen-capped the heck out of everything: timestamps, the submit page, the info specified by my machine for the video, even a video of my whole edited video playing in the little box on the submit page recorded on the camera of my iPhone.

After awhile I tried playing it on the mini-player and the whole video plays right there in the submit page. I don't know if I should be assured by that, but when I copy the link to a different tab or window it gives me a 404 not found... Still no email.

Fingers double and triple crossed. First thing's first, this will be more than a little upsetting if it gets disqualified because of a technical issue. I made time to do this from a 60+ hour work week + on call shifts and it wasn't easy. I didn't do this to win, I just wanted to participate. Breaks me down.

No luck here so far and I'm honestly devastated. So many long days cutting too. I got in 10 min before the 11:59 deadline and the arrow is still spinning....   My browsers still up, but I searched on here to find out if it was just me. Then I found this thread.    I honestly hope they extend the deadline another 24 hours  at least 12 hours ugh.

Took the wind right out of my sails after I managed to make a file under 30mb with decent quality for quick upload.

John, I really feel you. I had problems with my export and had to sacrifice resolution to upload the video. Hopefully your wish comes true and they extend it. Try contacting them and see what they say, I'll do the same.

Much appreciated, hope you have better luck. I tried emailing support, but we'll see.  Literally just stared at that screen for like an hour while the arrow spins.

I feel for you guys having issues too. I don't think I've ever been more familiar with any song or amount of footage like I went through over the past week.

Beyond bummed, but I still have the window open trying to submit.

Good luck all in any case.

Less than 15 minutes until the contest closes and I'm still having this problem. I'm too scared to close the window because it might not be done, but I'm not sure it has ever finished uploading (or will ever) and the support team won't reply to me. Dang, what was the point of working on this for so many days?

Good luck - I hope it works for you.  Mine eventually took about 30 minutes to upload.  But I've heard of people getting it uploaded in as little as 5 minutes or several hours, so . . . .

Thanks Francisco, wasn't able to do what you told me to do because of the time. I had to sacrifice some resolution using other software to make it. Basically submitted it at 29:58. But thanks Good luck as well!

You will not receive an email confirmation. There will be a message in your browser when you successfully submit your file. If you try again, and the entry was already received, you will get a message letting you know that you already entered.

kgrplanas I have confirmed that your submission was received. Thanks for participating.

Guys I did not see any confirmation screen. Now try to download from the phone and this screen is output. Does it mean success to contest? I want to be sure.

I've been having the exact same problem, but I found a solution! I waited hours and hours for uploading, and it just had the same loading screen. I emailed the support team and they replied with a pretty generic answer but it was somewhat helpful. I tried disconnecting my home wifi (on my computer) and instead used a personal hotspot off my phone. I filled out the info and pressed submit (just like any other time) and it seriously worked in around 5 minutes! It's worth a try

So I had problems with uploading and would not take a mpg, or a wma but it finally took a crappy mpeg4 video. Now there was no where to add the project file but what to do. We should have been able to send a email with Atachment but what ever its finally turned in. I did have all files under 200mb

    Hi Erich,

You only need to submit your video file for now. If you are a finalist, we'll ask for your project file. Good luck!
