Cannot Drag Select Multiple Mask Path Points

Starting today, I've encountered a sudden issue where I can't drag select multiple mask path points anymore. Usually, I draw a mask path and drag to select several path points at once to adjust the shape of the path. However, this functionality seems to have stopped working out of nowhere. I've tried rebooting and even testing on a different computer, but the problem persists. Has anyone else faced this issue or knows how to fix it?

Premiere Pro 24.2.0 (Build 93), Apple Mac mini M1, macOS Sonoma 14.0

Correct answer Trent Happel

This mask bezier issue was introduced with 24.2.x and has been recently resolved. You can verify the fix in 24.4 beta.

@Kevin-Monahan

This seems like a pretty clear case of a known, well-described, well understood problem.

Is there a reason it is not documented on the Known Issues page in order to help users?

Hello @Kyu35322342gv1a,

A product team member has announced a fix for this bug in Premiere Pro 24.3. The status of this bug is now "Fixed."

FYI, the mask selection and drag point bezier issues should be addressed in 24.3, which was just released.

Hello @Robbert35669625csxo,

Thanks for the message.

I seem to have bugs all over the place with this new update... I can't use my Type Tool and Rectangle Tool anymore, the sliders of Lumetri Color don't work anymore (unless I specifically ADD a Lumetri Color Effect to every clip) and now I also have problems with Opacity Masking because I also cannot drag select multiple mask path points anymore... Could you please report these bugs as well? And do you perhaps know a solution for me?

Yes. All these bugs are filed internally except for the Lumetri issue, which I addressed in your report. Please upvote this bug in the upper-left corner of this thread.

Thanks,
Kevin

Dear Adobe Community,

I am encountering an issue in Adobe Premiere Pro while working with the opacity mask tool. Whenever I attempt to adjust the position of existing points on a mask, instead of simply moving the points, "handles" emerge from these points intended for adjusting curvature, inadvertently complicating the adjustment process. This results in unintentional alterations to the mask's curvature, forcing me to undo the changes and making precise adjustments difficult.

The primary challenge is that these handles (Bezier handles) appear and alter the mask's shape even when my intention is only to reposition the points without modifying the curve between them. This issue complicates tasks that should be straightforward, such as minor adjustments to the mask's outline, because I end up having to correct unintended curvature changes.

Could you please provide guidance on how to adjust the position of mask points without affecting their curvature or how to better control the appearance of these Bezier handles during the adjustment process? Is there a way to lock the curvature or make point adjustments without inadvertently creating or modifying Bezier curves?

Thank you for your assistance with this matter. I look forward to your advice on how to effectively manage mask adjustments in Premiere Pro.

Best regards,

Update on this -

After upgrading to 24.2.1 there is only one bug:
1. After the 24.2.1 update in Premiere, we are unable to select multiple mask path points after creating a mask. It was working perfectly fine in the previous 24 versions.

Hey, i have been using masks in PPro since forever.

But since a few month now i realized the there is a major change in how they are adjustable in the Program monitor.

The tool is not working proberly. Every keyframe i try to grab is automatically a bezier.

And further, i can't just grab it since it always just grabs the bezier adjustment.

In addition to that the display of the cursor does not match the workstep you do anymore. It sometimes just stays a cross wir a point.

And i can't mark multiple points by holding down the 'alt' key anymore.

it makes me always swapping to AE even for the simpliest masks. This slows down MASSIVE!!!!

I am close to swap to Davinci for everything now...

Anyone having these issues as well? or having a solution?

Bug with Free draw bezier.

After clicking and creating a point when I keep clicking the mouse and dragging the mouse, nothing happens.

With version 24.1 it is ok but with version 24.2.1 the problem occurs.

I tried with 2 different PCs.

Any news about this?
