Cannot import corrected transcript or re-transcribe

Hi everyone - I am on 2024 version 24.2.1 (build 2)

 

My Import corected transcript (txt) option is missing / greyed out. I do my edits, transcribe it and then export the transcript as txt file - no problem. But when I go to import the option is greyed out. This has only happened in the last few weeks. 

Does anybody else expereince this? Does anybody know how I can get it owrking - what am I missing?

 

In the screen shot I have not transcribed the sequence but that is the view I get when I have transcribed and exported.

    Hey there @MatthewEmson,

    Thanks for writing in with your issue. This tripped me up too. Try the import function on the source clip, not one in the timeline. Choose Sequence > Match Frame to load the clip from the sequence or double-click it in the Project panel. Then, go to the Text panel to make the import. See if that works for you.

    I found a workaround, I have a corrected transcript from a client as a .txt but it was only importing the first minute or two and reverting to the incorrect one after that. I was getting very frustrated but I figured out that the transcript seems tied to the original source clips so very hard to change once generated unless you want to go through and correct it yourself in the text box. Here's what I did:

    I turned off any soundtrack and exported my timeline and renamed it for 'forsubtitles' or something like that.

    I then re imported the for forsubtitles.mp4

    Started a new sequence and added the forsubtitles.mp4 so it was just one long clip. I then transcribed this.

    the import corrected transcript was still greyed out. However I clicked sequence>match frame and it became clickable.

    I then imported the corrected transcript from the client and generated correct captions with the new transcript.

    on my original timeline I deleted all of my old captions and then copied and pasted the new ones in. they were not in the correct place but I was able to drag them to the right timings by highlighting them all and now I have correct captions on my original timeline.

    I really hope this helps someone.

      Similar issue here. I managed a workaround -

      1) Create a new sequence (do NOT duplicate the problem sequence, as it may carry over the bug)

      2) Copy and paste the dialog tracks from the sequence you want to transcribe (don't copy music or SFX)

      3) Transcribe the new sequence

      4) Now import the corrected transcript (may have to Sequence > Match Frame as others have suggested)

       

      Now the corrected transcript imports correctly. I was able to create captions and copy/paste back to the original sequence.

        A thousand thanks @Kevin-Monahan - this has worked a treat. It was the Sequence > Match Frame that did it and I express the feeling of happiness that shot through me when all of a sudden Import Corrected Transcript (txt) appeared for me! Thank you, sir.
