I am attempting to use color matte with text to make my text appear as if it is filling up with liquid. I have added wave distorion and animated the color matte and applied track matte key to the text. Everything is working fine until I set a keyframe on position of the matte and attempt to make it "fill up" from bottom to top. If I move the color matte up, I can see the text. If I position the color matte in the center of the text, I can see the wave animation. If I click keyframe, I can still see the color matte until I move it below the text. It is only when I advance in the timeline to set the new position when the matte stops revealing the letters.
I am learning all this on my own, so it is highly probable it is something I am doing wrong. But, it has me stumped. I have followed videos where people are doing it while following all instructions to a tee. Their's works while mine does not.
