Compatibility issues 2023

I recently upgraded to Premier 23 on my 2021 MacBook Pro (M1) - all good.   I started a few projects and all seemed fine.

When I went back to my desktop computer (a late 2013 Mac Pro (a trashcan)) however I cannot open these files as they were made on the newer software and I am offered no option to update the program on that computer so it is stuck on 22.6.2.  I cannot find anything that tells me that the software cannot be upgraded and it looks like the specs are still all OK.

To enable working between the two computers I have now downgraded the version on the MacBook (in the knowledge that I will need to start the projects again) but now 22.6.2 is very very buggy (as in I can even open it) on the MacBook.  I have tried opening as both the 'silicon' and 'intel' versions to no avail.

Can someone tell me if the the 2023 version is really incompatable with the older mac ?   Or what am I missing?

Your Mac Pro must have had an older version of macOS installed. If you cannot update Premiere Pro past version 22.6.2, that means that you have macOS version 10.15.x (Catalina) installed on that "trashcan". Premiere Pro 23 requires macOS 11 (Big Sur) or newer just to even install at all.

That Mac Pro can officially be updated to macOS 12 (Monterey). You cannot currently update that Mac Pro to the newest macOS, version 13 (Ventura). So, if you update that 2013 system's OS to macOS 12.6.1, then yo

Thank you so much.  Seems so obvious when you put it like that. Your time is greatly appreciated.

So, Im having the same problems. Except I cannot even download AE on either of my iMacs - OS 10.13 (2011) and OS 10.15 (2012) and when I asked Support they kept referring me back to the need for atleast 10.11. Which confusing, as both my OS exceed 10.11.

Sorry if I am wittering on here - so my question is: do I have to downgrade both my computers to Monterery?

Thanks in anticipation!

That's because your OSes are too old to even run the current versions of the Adobe Creative Cloud apps at all. The 2023 versions now require macOS 11.x (Big Sur) or newer just to even install at all.

By the way, you got the version names all wrong. And macOS 10.11 is not Big Sur at all - but is even older than your High Sierra and Catalina OSes. The name for 10.11 is El Capitan. You also heard the version number wrong from Adobe: They meant 11.0, not 10.11.

And both of your Macs are now officially declared "obsolete" at Apple itself. And they do not officially support any newer OS than whatever version that you've already updated to. So, you're out of luck at this point.
