Copy in-to-out of one sequence into another sequence

I have a sequence cut together nicely and I don't want to make any more cuts inside it. However, there are some portions of it I'd to mark with in and out points and then copy to another sequence. Is this possible?

  • Simply copying the clips (⌘V) doesn't work, because some of them extend beyond my desired in and out points, so I'd have to trim them first, which is what I'm trying to avoid
  • Making a nested sequence or subsequence seems to not work for the same reason—it pulls in clips even where they extend beyond my in and out points

Thanks in advance!

Use the Sequence that is cut together nicely as the source for the other Sequence.

To do this, drag and drop the Sequence that is cut together nicely to the Source panel from the Project or Bin panel.

With the other Sequence open in the Timeline, set the "Insert and overwrite sequences as nests or individual clips" button under the Playhead Timecode is set to individual clips (it should not be blue).  Mark and In and and Out in the Source panel, position the Playhead or mark an In in the Timeline, check Source Patching, then Insert or Overwrite.

Warren, thanks. The sequence itself already has markers where I want in and out points. If I edit it as you suggest, those markers are invisible to me. Is there any way to see where I've already placed the markers? Or do I have to place them again?

Sorry, no, I can see them! This is great. Thank you!

I think making a sub sequence and trimming the end is the best way to go.
