Crashing when importing H.265

Since the past version PPro is crashing randomly when I import H.265 (MP4, 4k 10 bit) footage (Lumix S5). Sometimes it import it with no problem, then the next project it's almost impossible, after changint the route of the files, clean the cache and lost a lot of time, it import ir without problem.  I tought this last version would solve the problem, but there is still there.

Do somebody have the same problem?

Thanks

Bumping this. H.265 HEVC files crashing in Premiere Pro 24.5  --import is no problem, once I start scrubbing thru one file, either Premiere crashes or my whole PC freezes.

- using PC running an Intel i9, RTX 4090 (latest Studio Driver) and 52mb RAM dedicated to Prremiere Pro
- cleared cache, reset preferences, and even tried to disable H.264 hardware acceleration -- still failed

Any updates or workarounds would be appreciated. Thanks!

22.3 version and still crashing when importing h.265

I'm importing the main folder wich contain all the footage in different folders. There is about 400+ files.

It crash about 3-4 times, then it import it the files without problem. But its about 20-25 minutes lost trying to workaround this problem.

So Premiere Pro keep crashing importing H.265 HEVC files, It's frustrating every time I create a new project, it takes a lot of crash until it import everything. And I mean every project I create. I've been looking around if it's a problem with the specific files from the S5 or Premiere Pro, but couldn't find anything.

Hi there!

Sorry to hear about the crash. Are you getting this issue with specific files? Do you get crash reports? https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/faq-where-do-i-find-premiere-pro-crash-logs-on-windows-or-mac/td-p/9200778

Let us know.

You could upload two screenshots using the MediaInfo app with the two video files. One shot with the information from one of the clips that does import without issue and another shot with one of the clips that causes Premiere Pro to crash. This to try to see some difference between both files because if it is with the same camera and format it should not happen.

Thanks

It it's not about two differents codec, just sometimes it import it without problem, and sometimes it crash, same file. The last workaround I've been doing it's import it by batch per camera (Import Camera A, then B, then C) but if I try to import the main folder with all the files it crash it. It happen since the past version last update.

What are the hard drives (how many, what kind, what is on each, what capacity, and how full)?

Two hard drives, one for the OS/cache 1Tb, one for the Project/Footage 2tb. Both M.2 SSD, about 50-60% of used space.

Also, when I import it, the CPU usage go to 100% for a few seconds, then if the import continue it drop to regular usage.
