Hi guys, I currently upgraded to Dell Precision 3351 (Special Edition) i9 vpro 10th gen, 32GB Ram, Nvidia Quadro P620 4GB Dedicated Graphics Card, 2TB SSD. The laptop has dell factory set original windows 10 and was reseted before it was gifted to me.
The issue is it is lagging in a simple premiere project, adding suptitles to 40 second 1080p video. when I havent even moved to After Effects project.
Can you suggest anything? Only thing I can tell is, maybe the laptop needs thermopaste changing and cooler cleaning, since its 2-3 years old, but saved very well.
can that procedures help? if not, I am thinking to sell this and move to M3 Max, as I will have more work on after effects, and premiere with 4k and 6k footages.
please tell me what do you think, why is this machine laggging and should I move to M3 Max or no.
Thank you

thanks! it runs much faster generally now, but look, I am moving this blue box sync to the words, and when i move it, its delaying to follow the mouse still.. and this is such a simple project, just 2 rectangles and a tittle on 1080 p video, even video is unvisible and 1/4 preview mode..

Which version of graphics driver are you using?
Make sure to use a Studio Driver from NVIDIA (NOT the Game Driver), but not the latest version - it has issues with Premiere Pro.

I just installed what it suggested automatically from Dell support assistance app. I will have a look, thank you ❤️

That is a pretty low-spec rig, sadly, for "modern" 2024 Premiere. That GPU is seven years old, and although still getting new drivers, it won't be for long. And with a small CUDA set, and only 4GB of vRAM on it, it doesn't do much anyway.
Just ... Life. Computers "age" so freaking fast. Frustrating but it's ... what is.

ahh, thanks Neil! That's what I wanted to know, is it a software preferences problem or a machine problem, so it's better to move on to the latest M3 Max I think..

The last Apple that I used booted from a 5 1/4 floppy disc. I'm not a Mac guy.
That's not to say a Mac might be OK for you.
I did purchase a desktop workstation from them and am pleased with its performance.
