Different file path in Mac

Participant ,

Hi All,

I am importing same file from two different places in premiere pro (one from Project tab and other from Media Browser tab) in Mac. But the file path shown in their properties are different!!

File imported from Project tab:

/Users/user1/Documents/fil1.txt

File imported from Media Browser tab:

/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/user1/Documents/fil1.txt

Is it a bug in Premiere Pro?

Premiere Pro version: 11.1.0

Thanks & Regards,
Meet Tank

You import or ingest from the hdd drive not Project window or Media Browser.

Those are just panel.

Right click on clip in timeline or Project window: what does Properties say?

Thanks Ann Bens

Right click on clip in timeline or Project window: what does Properties say?

As I mentioned in the question:

File path when import file from Project panel is:

/Users/user1/Documents/fil1.txt

File path when import file from Media Browser panel is:

/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/user1/Documents/fil1.txt

double clicked in project panel.png

File properties when import it from Media Browser panel:

Hi Ann Bens

Both files are under the same directory. Have you noticed the extra prefix "/Volumes/Macintosh HD". The point is that the file path should be consistent irrespective of the import method being used. This is not because the of two different files, It happens to same file too.

Meet Tank: As Ann says, I wouldn't worry about it. An engineer could probably answer your question but my guess is that when you import from the Premiere Pro Media Browser, the complete file path information is retained in the metadata because you're using Premiere Pro's own (type of) file manager, whereas when you import directly into the Project panel, you're using the macOS Finder. Just a guess.
