Do more CPU cores decrease Neat Video render time?

Explorer ,
Oct 26, 2017 Oct 26, 2017

Hi everyone,

I am getting more and more frustrated with Neat Video. It just takes forever to render. Since I like the results I get, I am thinking of getting a better CPU with more cores if this would decrease render time.

What do you think? Do more cores decrease render time or is it just about the speed?

Thanks in advance

Tobi

Okay, you have the GPU covered! I really don't know what kind of speed increase one might realize with upgrading the processor. I mean really, without running the optimization tests on both CPUs and comparing results, who knows for sure? Just try the optimization setup first and see what kind of gains you can get with existing hardware.

Thanks

Jeff

The latest version of Neat uses both the CPU and GPU. The software has a feature that allows you to optimize performance, where you can tell it how many cores to use and such, and it will test and report back what the optimum settings are for your system. This has really helped performance on my system.

Thanks

Jeff

Great tip Jeff! I will download the latest version tomorrow and test it. Any idea what a performance gain would come from moving from 6-core i7-5930k to i9-7900x?

A 6-core should already be doing a good job for you (with up to 12 processing cores going). A better question might be, what graphics card are you using currently? Might be the less expensive upgrade that could possibly do more for you.

Thanks

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I did the optimization and it is faster now. I figured out that I was using 9 cores before and now I am using 11 and the GPU. Still, even faster rendering would help my workflow with footage from night events.
