Does smart rendering also work for exporting to Bluray?

I've tried the smart rendering procedure, matching your sequence render settings to your export settings in AME and checking the "use previews" box.... works really great.

But....

Does that same procedure work when exporting using the bluray codec? (exporting those multiple files for a bluray burn)

I can't seem to match the sequence render codec up with a blueray export setting.

IF I again check the "use previews" will the bluray export grab and use those previews so the whole project doesn't have to be re compressed again?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Correct answer Ann Bens

Short answer: nope there is no smart render for BD!

If you are exporting to BD with a BD preset dont use preview files as they are the wrong codec.

So there is just no way around re rendering all the footage for a 2nd time when exporting for a burn to disk?

You'd think if  they could do smart render for exporting to a movie file... they'd be able to create a process to do the same for exporting to bluray.

Second time? Exporting with a BD preset means one time only. They are bd compatible files.

Hi Letty2019,

To take advantage of Smart Rendering you need to use one of the supported file formats. It works only if the source codec, size, frame rate, and bit rate match the export settings. You may refer to this link to know about the supported formats for Smart Rendering.

Hope it helps.
