I recently viewed a Larry Jordan webinar about Premiere CC tips n tricks, and one of the items he demonstrated was the Playback Resolution selector (and the associated Dropped Frames indicator).
However, he wasn't clear/sure whether changing the playback resolution affected the quality of "Make Media" output.
I can't believe it would...but he's sown seeds of doubt in my brain, so I thought I'd bring it to the august hive mind that is this Community.
Anybody have a definitive answer for me? I'll hang up and look through the users' manual to see if I can find out for us all...
No, Playback Resolution is just affecting the preview that you see, and may be reduced to make playback easier for slower machines. This has no bearing on the actual output, which is affected by

Does this playback resolution affect an output monitor? if i am connected to a projector, can i playback with lower res in my premiere, but still have full quality output (4k)?

Jeff Pulera is absolutely right, changing the Playback Resolution will just affect the playback within Premiere Pro.
