Thank you so very much!!!! This fixed the issue. I was using an audio file that I created on a windows machine - I think that was causing the problem - this fixed it. Thanks again 🙂

Sorry about the Error. Could you try some suggestions mentioned here? https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/faq-fix-error-compiling-movie-errors-in-prem...
Let us know how it goes.

I came here with the exact same issue since the latest update. I changed to the I Frame and that is working, so AVI may be the issue.

Since the last update I too had the same issue. Never had a problem before the update rending in to out, manually selecting mpeg fixed it as suggested here.

Maybe this will help someone, as I just ran into this issue as well.
I needed to save the project file to a new location. It was saved in a folder on an external hard-drive, and I re-located the project file to my desktop.
Immediately after that, my timeline was able to render again.

This was the only solution that worked for me.

To anyone wondering, this just means your external hard drive is full. Another reason you might receive this error.

Another potential fix: make sure you have enough storage on your flash drive or whatever device you are using. I typically work on projects from drives so I can take my work home with me and this issue often happens when I run out of storage.
You can check that this is your issue by trying to export the project in media encoder. If it works there, then storage is likely the culprit.
