I am working on a film and I was editing it last night, I saved the project and renamed the folder in which I held all my content (which is a big no no apparently). Every single piece of media now appears as offline. Its all red, the edits are saved, the color grading for each clip and the sound, but its all offline. All the media is on my computer but PP for some reason isnt doing 2+2, it is very frustrating and I have no idea how to fix it.
I ran a small test, created a project, saved, exited PP; Renamed the Folder; restarted the project and got the following Screen:
Clicked Locate:
opened the folder I renamed, and clicked search and got this dialog:
after locating the one file, it found the remainign ones on its own (All files were in the same folder); after the progress bar, projected loaded with no issues
I keep all my cache data on a seperate drive (not next to media) if that matters...
The feature still seems to work on th

Locate media has always worked in the past if your only moving/renaming the root folder for everything.
Sounds like your pretty experienced with PP at some level from how you point out the locate media tool, and its attempt to use it to solve the reconnection issues.
a few things to consider, I cant tell how big that program / timeline is from the screen grab - I will say, I have had this issue once with a big program, that was a 6 hour version, with lots of cuts etc - it took a few min for all the media to relink after I pointed it - meaning, it foudn the file, but the thumb nails, and other metadata used to display the timeline itself would not show until PP completed some sort of background process rebuilding I assume cache files, and all that sort of stuff. It was an older version of PP, so not sure if that behaves the same in the latest version or not, but if you could confirm how long you waited after location attempt for the time line to display?
Also, after locating, did it find the files or not? did you change ONLY the folder name, and file names remained the same? A suggestion, dont have search your entire drive, point it specificaly to the folder you renamed, as It seems you very clearly knwo where its located and what its called.

Glad I could help - and we have all be there in that panic mode - we each get our turn with the panic, and a chance to help someone solve something like this. So glad it worked out for you and your back to working on your project.

The feature still seems to work on the 25.2 version of PP that came out yesterday on windows 11 24H2 build 26100.3624
