In Premiere, is it possible to locate the project from which you exported a file?  So, I have an exported file, viz., an mp4 file, but I can't recall from which project I generated it. Am I out of luck?

Thanks.

This time I was lucky.  I had imported the  previously exported file to a new project, and when I right-clicked on it (either in the time line or in the project panel), several options came up, including "Edit original."  Voila. That indeed led to the original project.

When right clicking on the exported file in its folder, an option that seemed to be similar came up, but it didn't work.

As far as I know--unless there is something in the metadata--this would be difficult. If the export location is unique and you just exported it--you may be able to open up projects and go to export and see the last export destination. Go to Export > Media... and then click the link that allows you to rename and choose a location for your export. Other than this--I would love to know if there was another way myself. Good luck.

I never thought to use that before! I had 15 exports from a project but had no idea which production or project I used to make the edit. I imported 15 exports I had and went one by one. They all kept opening in VLC for me until ONE of them finally gave me an error telling me the project was missing but at LEAST I had a project name. I know this thread is 6 years old but THANK YOU for it!
