Hi - I only use Premiere Pro to add captions to video podcasts.
When I use client's branded fonts and plugins on Premiere Pro, the Program Monitor changes to black, and the green/yellow/red line above the timeline vanishes.
My workaround here is to temporarily change the scale of the footage and put it back. Then the yellow line reappears on timeline together with the preview on the Program Monitor. I'll need to do it again when I change the captions since the black video returns.
But when I render it, both Premiere Pro and Media Encoder produces a black video throughout the file. Changing the renderer from metal to software doesn't help. It has sound and it renders faster though, but useless. It only renders properly when I remove or change the font and plugin, which is not a feasible option for me.
My workaround is render it with no font with plugin, and do a 2nd render with captions. Another workaround when I'm collaborating with others is render it with no caption and I'll get help in captioning and 2nd render on Descript.
For reference, here's what I'm using:
1. Premiere Pro 23.5, Media Encoder 23.5
2. Mac mini M2 Pro 32GB, macOS 13.4.1 (c)
3a. Footage: 1280 × 720 MPEG-4 AAC, H.264 or others
3b. Fonts: Karla Bold, Karla Regular, caption background #000000 71%
3c. Plugins: Waves Clarity Vx
3d. Preset: Export Media >Match Source - Adaptive Medium Bitrate, Burn Captions into Video
4a. Expected result: footage with cleaner sound and caption
4b. Actual result: black render
Here's an idea:
1. I wonder what's keeping Adobe from working with external font and plugin creators.
2. I'd rather pay a monthly subscription to Adobe ONLY, IF Adobe can cover what its competitors can do.

so to clarify, if you use a standard font, things work as expected? And is there an issue with the plug=in?
