How can I add additional edit points to a multi-cam edit while in pause? (after creating multi-cam sequence). I tried this; place playhead at point I want to switch to another camera (while in pause), click the RECORD button, then click on the camera that I want to switch to, then hit PLAY. This 'sort of' works but is not precise at all and sometimes does not work at all. (I'm trying to do it this way because I want a very precise edit point which I can't quite do 'on the fly') What might I be doing wrong? Does the sequence have to be FLATTENED first? What is the purpose of FLATTEN? When should the multi-cam sequence be flattened? Can additional changes be made after flattening? Thanks!

The multicam edit sequence has all the normal functions. So, if you want to create a cut, place the sequence to the right spot and then switch cameras. I'm not sure what the RECORD buttonn is? Flattening changes the sequence clip to the actual source camera in place of the multicam sequence. So, edit the sequence like any other, but you can also use the multicam functionality if you haven't flattened the source clip.

Thank you; that is helpful. I know that after the sequence is flattened, you can still adjust the point where it switches from one camera to another but I don't think you can add additional cut points after it is flattened; right? I've tried doing what you suggested but it's not 100% reliable for me. Haven't figured out why. The Record button is that red dot at the bottom of the Program panel. From what I understand, the record button has to be engaged in order to record the cuts to different cameras. But I'm not certain about that. I'm new to Premiere and still have much to learn! Previously, I used Sony Vegas but when I started working with multi-cams, it started crashing every couple minutes! Premiere is MUCH more stable but still not perfect on my Windows 10 machine. (perhaps I need to upgrade my entire workstation.)

Yes, OK, I never gave that (red) button a 2nd glance. Don't use it. In fact, press the + on the program monitor bottom left, and drag that red circle to back to the dialog to get rid of it. You only need the toggle MC view button. Here's the most informative thing I could find on it:
Again, once a clip is flattened it is just like you dropped that clip onto the track with those edit points set, no more multicam.
I a MC - To control a cut better you place the playhead exactly where you want it, and place a cut with the keyboard shortcut. (or Razor tool) and then change the multicam view to a different camera. Without doing the cut first, it will change the entire clip to that camera, like to go back if you hit the wrong camera.
Even with that said, it's all a normal timeline, all the cuts and effects, transitions etc apply. <<-- this is the first thing to get your head around. It's a normal sequence but with addition (MC) features.
