How do I choose default profile when exporting in a new project?

I downloaded Premiere Pro 2023, and in one of the first projects, I needed a quick MP3 version of my video.

It's been a month and I've probably made about 50 new projects since that day. But for some reason, no matter what I change, no matter what types of exports I do, the default export preset isn't video in any form. It's MP3, and it never changes back to the original .h264 default no many how many times I change it manually.

This is unbelievably frustrating to have to check every time, lest I accidentally crap up my computer with wasted, pointless files that I never asked for.

All I wanted was one MP3. How do I change this back? Thank you.

If you like you can clear your media cache and reset your user preferences to default. That might help. That feature is sticky, whatever you had selected last time should appear again. It does for me when I use the Export button on the main PP display upper left.
