How do i unlink media from Premiere Pro during editing in After Effects

'Unlink' ... not sure what you mean by that.

If you're doing a "Replace with AE Comp" action, that is designed as a linked process. Period. Work in Ae, then save, it updates the Premiere sequences using that comp.

If you want to work media in Ae separately from Premiere, then just open Ae, create a project and comp, and import the media.

When I do a Replace with AE comp and save in AE then I do a ctrl+Z in Premiere.
