How do you export the same sized file?

Hi,

 

I recorded a .mp4 file using OBS which is roughly 150MB.  I've brought it into Premiere Pro and done some basic edits (basically trimmed it). When I export it it nearly triples in size (almost 500MB).  I thought if you selected "same as source" it would export the same size, bit rate, ect. as the original file.  I want to export a movie that is basically the same size and is identical to the original in quality.

 

What am I missing?

Taffypro,

Sorry for the frustration. You imported your original file from an export from OBS, which is likely a highly compressed H.264 file with a variable frame rate. Premiere Pro cannot export variable frame rate files, so there you are. I don't think it's possible to get a file exported from there that is going to be the same file size.

If you want to merely trim your original file without recompressing it, look into other applications, like FFMPEG. That can trim your raw file.

 

In other words, Premiere Pro is not really suited for what you wish it to do.

    Please post a screenshot of your Export Settings dialog.

      I've posted 2 .jpegs.  I imported the original movie (142.6 MB) and placed it on the timeline.  I made a 4 minute clip from the 23 minute movie and the output file size is 219MB.  I am not sure how to see the bit rate/sample rate from the original file.  I just assume if you hit the "Match Source" button it would export the same file settings (Frame rate/Dimensions/Bit Rate/ect).

      Hola por lo general deberias verificar a que Bitrate grabaste el video en OBS y en premiere deberias exportarlo con el mimo BITRATE a fin de que el peso no suba demasiado. Espero pueda servirte de algo.
