What is the most effective way to rapidly remove the beard shadow from a person in a video?
I have used a gaussian blur mask (and it works) but near the nose and the mouth the automatic positioning fails and I have to adjust the result frame by frame and it is terrible...
you might try some electronic makeup. it works by making a key based on skin tone and applying a blur. I've worked with this one. https://www.sheffieldsoftworks.com/beauty/muaiii/index.html. Patrick's a friend so take my recommendation for what it's worth... It's saved a few projects for me but never a beard shadow, but it's worth a shot.

I only use cs6 creative suite (which can't do that stuff on my system (win10 )). So I also use Resolve 15. That version is OK with my custom build 6 year old computer if I don't go hog wild with fusion and stabilizing and noise reduction, etc..
Anyway, someone here with your similar new version of PPRO will get the gist of what I'm saying ... in that I would use a 'power window' to create the mask and then 'analyze' it... ( automatically tracks it through the clip ). Then adjust the feathering of the edge of mask and whatever you have to do to segregate the 'range' ( your mask effects the pixels you've chosen to target ).
It's kinda cool.. and works well, but you have to take some time with it to work right if there are other things in the foreground that interfere with the stuff.... what you are doing by trying to adjust frame by frame... it's like that...if there's stuff in the foreground wiping the frame the program will get confused.

I pray to God you remain with PP.
I hope you have the wherewithal to take what I said and APPLY IT TO PP TOOLS !!!!!!
OR don't. it's a PROCESS, doing stuff ... and understanding it is based on BASICS.
Good luck

does new version of PPr have anything similar to the facial recognition mask that can be tracked in resolve 15 ???? so this poster can apply it to his problem ???

Some contributers, like Neil, know resolve and also ( as is right and holy ) a giant proponent of PPro and the PC. This sample image of a finished tutorial on facial recognition mask in 15 ( rhino doc re: endangered rhinos is south africa ). she had shadow from hat brim on forehead, bags under eyes, shadows on face and so on... skin tone and color and 'softness' ... all of it " FIXED" using that feature ...( facial recognition tracking mask )... is there anything in new version of PPro ( assuming poster is using newest ).... to do the same ???
