How to create a custom sequence settings?

Hello,

I have seen this question asked many times, but only to be unanswered or distorted into something else along the conversation.

So I'm sorry if I missed the answer somewhere, but here is (exactly) what I would like to do :

Create a new sequence settings that will show up in the "Editing Mode" presets in the "Sequence Settings" panel.

I would like my new custom made sequence preset to show up in this list, so I can access it in the situations where I need it here.

How to do this please?

Alternatively, if this is not possible, can you nest a clip into a new sequence which has the same sequence settings as the clip itself (by opposition to the same sequence settings as the timeline it is in at the moment you create the nested sequence) ?

Please I am not looking for answers such as "why do you want to do this ?". Thanks !

    You cannot add anything to the Editing Mode dropdown.  You can change any sequence settings after creation except Master Audio.

    Thanks for the answers and clarifications. I had the same issue.

    I was looking for a preset to be added if I right click on the sequence and then go to sequence settings. I wasn't using the ctrl+N to start a new sequence, I was just dragging my files over and starting there. I was able to create a profile using ctrl+N and will start my sequences as such going forward.

    I think what the non-pros (like me) are looking for is to be able to setup a global setting so that when I drag a 4K file over to my timeline and want to have a 1080p output, the setting default will be set and all I have to do is start editing. It would be great for what I do. I have a single shot of a live performance in 4k, one music track, and need to output in 1080 and 480. Being able to set a global preset to be able to drag and start a sequence would make things more streamlined for people like me.

    You can certainly create custom Sequence Presets that will appear in the New Sequence Settings Dialog box, under Custom:

    You create those custom sequences by clicking on the Settings tab, changing the editing mode to Custom, making whatever specifications you want, and then saving the preset:

    If you click Save Preset a dialog box will appear:

    Name it and give it a description and save it.

    The next time you go to File > New Sequence, you can select the preset you just made from the Sequence Presets Tab > Custom folder.

      Thank you for taking the time to explain all this,

      Indeed at first this looks like a solution to my question, but you will notice that in the end, none of these custom presets end up in the pop up list that drops down in an existing sequence settings (the screenshot I posted). So if you already have a sequence created, and wish to change its settings, you can, as long as it's not your own custom setting.
      Do you have any idea how to solve that interesting choice from Adobe ?

      If you drag a sequence (as a nest) into a new, empty sequence, you will be prompted to either use the existing sequence settings or match the sequence to the properties of the incoming nest.

      In your last post you asked:

      Well, you can certainly modify individually or totally any of the Sequence Settings manually, but as far as I know you can't call up a custom preset do that.

      Do you have any idea how to solve that interesting choice from Adobe ?

      I'm not sure I do. I personally have not run into a situation where I need to change multiple parameters on a sequence - In my experience my changes would be more along the line of changing an interlaced sequence to progressive.

      If I needed to created a pan and scan of something like an edit done in a DCI 4K sequence in a 1080 format, I would create a second sequence in the 1080 format and drop the 4K cut in as a nest, when prompted choosing to keep the 1080 formatting of the sequence.

      Not sure if this is addressing your issue.
