How to create a scrolling picture-in-picture?

I know how to scale a clip and move it around to create a normal picture-in-picture, but I need something a little different. I've created an instructional video that's demonstrating written instructions. I'd like the instructions to scroll in a small window in the corner of the main video. The instructions are just a jpeg that I'd like to be longer/taller than the height of the inset window so I can scroll them just by animating the Y parameter. Any tips?

Put the images full screen on a timeline next to each other.

Adjust the duration of each image to your liking.

Add the Wipe or Push transition between them.

Adjust direction.

Nest.

Add to main timeline and scale down.

While waiting for tips, I came up with the idea of placing the scrolling video on a track beneath the main one and using a mask to let it show through. That seems to work.

Waiting for tips???

You got 2 which you did not respond to.

We took time to help you out, and we do this on our own time.

Quite lame.

Thanks, I am out.

If I understand what you are trying to achieve ...

Put the jpeg in your sequence (full frame). Now animate the scroll you want and timing using position (Y) keyframes.

Now 'Nest' that layer (right click the clip and select 'nest')

In your main comp you can now resize the nested layer and place it as a picture-in-picture wherever you want while it retains the scroll.

That hopefully will get what you want.
