Question

How to define default audio channel from multi-channel audio

Hi there!

I am working on Premiere 2017.1.2 on Windows 7.

My footage comes usually from a Sony FS5, which normally has 4 mono audio channels. When dragging the clip from the project window into my sequence, it imports audio channels 3 and 4, while my audio is normally on 1 and 2. This is quite annoying, as I have to fix it manually for every clip.

So, anybody has an idea on how to set the default audio channels for import into a sequence?

Thanks so much!

Tom

Have a look at this option, right click on the clip in the project bin and select Modify Footage

Thank you, Richard. I am well aware on how to fix this.

But it is quite annoying, if you have to manually re-assign the channels.

What I am looking for is a way on how to set the default audio channels to 1 & 2. That is, if I am dragging a clip into the sequence, it should be 1 & 2 by default, without consulting that menu.

    Is there a way?

You should be getting all four tracks for those clips.  What are your settings under Edit>Preferences>Audio>Default Audio Tracks?
