Correct answer Stan Jones

We more often get the issue of how to take srt and get to text layers. See this thread re script in After Effects.

I don't recall a script or other process that will do what you ask.

For anyone still trying to do this... YES, there is a built-in way to export the Text layers to a mapped text file with timing and everything.

I'm talking about the texts you add using the "Type tool". When you add texts to your sequence using the "Type tool", they will appear in the "Text window -> Graphics tab" (open it via menu: Window > Text). You will see every text clip is synced with your video, find the 3 dots in this tab and then choose: Export > Export to text file...

The exported format will be like this:

00;00;00;10 - 00;00;02;16
V5, 1
This is my first text.

00;00;02;22 - 00;00;04;28
V5, 1
This is my second text!

@marllon_vilano,

Good post in an old thread!

When this thread was started in 2021, the Graphics tab did not exist in the Text Panel, and you can now do what you describe.

@Kolja282207803yu6,

This is an old thread.

The screenshot you sent by DM shows that you are in the Transcript view, and there never was an option to export the transcript as SRT. That is only for captions.

You need to decide whether you want to work at the transcript stage, or do the translation after you are working with captions. Respond with more information, and I'll suggest a method.

To export the transcript for corrections or translation, use the .txt export.

You need to use the Caption feature.
