How to force update to PP

Community Beginner ,
Aug 09, 2017 Aug 09, 2017

This is a follow up to a post from two days ago (that I can't seem to find in the forums now)

Problem: PP installed from ap manager on desktop and then laptop, laptop taken out in field for loading of camera files and rough cuts, back in house project from laptop PP project won't open in desktop PP. Both "up to date" in manger, both running version 11, but on inspection desktop (older install) running build 11.0.0, while laptop is running build 11.1.2.

So how do I force the desktop to update to the latest build? and going forward, is this going to be a continuing problem; will any new build cause an incompatibility between the two installations? Not a particularly useful feature, and not as advertised. What a PITA!

Have tried signing out, rebooting, signing in, no joy. Any other bright ideas out there?

final update (for this anyway) uninstall/reinstall solved the problem. A clunky way to get the latest version installed, but it did work. Going forward will jut make sure to keep the desktop and laptop in sync.

In the CC app click the down arrow next to the gear in the upper right. The click check for app updates

yeah. first thing I tried. CC ap shows "up to date" for PP (apparently the brilliant coders at Adobe have the ap check the major version, not the build)

Any other ideas out there?

any one?

Bueller? Bueller?

There should also be an "update" listed under the help menu in PP. The updater will do every new version. Sometimes it takes a few clicks.

You could also try going to the main adobe homepage and select the "desktop download" in you account section on the left.

Tried the suggestions; unfortunately all roads seem to lead back (through) the CC ap manager, which is perfectly content with the version (11.0.0) currently installed. I think my work around is going to be uninstalling/reinstalling. There's half a day down the tubes. Thanks Adobe.

Not that it will help you now, but here is your previous thread, linked to the post with the most likely fix (which you have tried with no joy). Click on your icon and pick "content" (topics you started).

Re: Different versions of CC PP between laptop and desktop

When you have this much trouble, also try support and ask for the video queue.

Thanks Stan, still new to the forums, and Adobe PP, bit of a learning curve from AVID MC.

Ann, thanks for the info link, but activating/deactivating isn't the issue. When I sign out/reboot or shut-down restart/sign in, still stuck with a 11.0.0 build of the desktop version of PP. I think the uninstall/reinstall path is my next option.

and as a PP newbie a question; before the uninstall I plan on backing up the projects folder, profiles, basically anything/everything in the Adobe folder poked into the desktops documents folder, anything else I should back-up?

The uninstall should only remove the app, all the other data should stay intact. Of course, backups are always a good idea - the more the merrier.
