Question

How to move short clip to playhead?

I have a problem. It is very difficult to move any short clip at large zoom.

This clip has a width of 1 pixel and it is difficult to hook.

Can there be a command for "shifting the selected to the playhead"?

I assume there's still no way to do this in Premiere? In After Effects, I can just hit [ to "Set Layer In Point at Current Time". I use it all the time, and really miss the ability to do this in Premiere. Pressing [ in AE does NOT trim the layer at all, it just moves the layer's in-point to the playhead's position, and does not affect any other layers. It's bizarre that this editing feature exists in AE (a compositing program) but not in Premiere (an editing program). Unless it has recently been introduced - in which case could someone please enlighten me?

Here's the link to the feature request (and bug report) site, you can add this, and let us know, then we can up-vote it, etc.

Infuriating that such a basic request produces an army of 'experts' who tell us we don't need it.

We need, it, that should be enough. Idiotic to have to zoom in, ctrl C, delete, zoom out, zoom in, ctrl V, instead of a single keystroke. If the braintrust here can't figure this out, don't know what more to say.

Or you can just copy + paste the clip.

    • Copy clip
    • Toggle the track targeting that you want the clip to paste to (V1, V2, V3, etc).
    • Move playhead to position you want your clip to begin.
    • Paste

    Bump!
I'll pop this over to feature request!  I desperately need this too.
    - A single shortcut key to move clip (on a selected track only) to playhead position.
    - or to be able to ripple-delete a gap on a selected track only.

r2-no-d2: What you want is a command like Nudge  Clip to Playhead. Doesn't seem that bad to request. How did these one-frame clips end up on the timeline to begin with? Are they the result of trimming?

Assuming they don't already exist as one-frame footage items in the Project panel, zoom in on them and then drag them one by one into a bin in the Project panel so that they become footage items. Now target the track you want them to appear on. Position the playhead and then press Shift+O to open the selected clip in the Source monitor and press period (.) to place it on the targeted track in the timeline at the position of the playhead.

While this may be cumbersome for a clip here and a clip there, if you've got several of these, then it's not too burdensome to try this on all such clips at one time.

This clip is not "one-frame". Its length is 15 seconds. But at large zoom very difficult to select it, because it becomes very thin. And cursor always enters Trim mode.

While the most useful method is the clipboard. But I already used it before the forum. And I wanted something quicker in a complex project..

I don't think there is anything quicker.

There's no "easy" way to do this.  Probably the least troublesome is to zoom in close enough to select the clip, Cut it, move to the destination and Paste it.

    Zoom in on the timeline.

At zoom can not see the destination.

    How about cut and paste?

I'm not sure what you are trying to do, but lock the tracks you don't want to trim/move, place the playhead and then hit the "W" key.

I do not know what you are. But I need to move the clip to another place.
