How to zoom in on a clip to make it larger.

Hello, people of the internet. I am having an issue. I have a clip (about 20 minutes long) and I want to be able to see it better. NOT THE VIDEO, the clip. Like in iMovie how there are the modes to zoom in on the clip to be able to be the clip larger and see the clip and be able to split it and stuff. When I split a clip it is so small I can't see where I split it. Hopefully, y'all get what I mean.

Thank you, Joey.@

You can zoom in and out of the timeline by pressing the + and - keys. Here is a link to some basic tips for navigating around the timeline: Moving Around the Adobe Premiere Pro Timeline | Creative Cloud User

I understand modifying the height of the clip but what about like moving it more sideways to give me more room to see and be able to cut it easier. basically i cant see it because it is too small

I wasn't talking about modifying the clip height. Zooming in on the timeline with the + and - keys will make your clips longer and take up more horizontal space. Try it and let me know if that's not what you're looking for.

The - + do indeed work, but it's very coarse, and nowhere near as cool as dragging the circles.

I'll have to disagree with you there, Colin, but it's all about how you edit. At least one of my hands is always on the keyboard for shortcuts, so + and - are always accessible. That way I don't have to drag my mouse away from the clip I'm editing to zoom in/out. I also have two buttons on my mouse mapped to those functions as I'm constantly zooming.

I'll concede your point about practicality, I was only talking about coolness!

I didn't know the answer to the question, and went looking for the usual ways of doing things. Premiere has a novel way to zoom the timeline. The standard way is to show a slider with different sized mountain icons, but Premiere is different.

If you have a trackpad you can pinch to zoom in on the timeline. But the main way is that under the timeline there is a lighter gray band that represents what you  can see at the moment, and a circle at each end. Drag the circles to do the zooming, and drag the bar to change the center point.

It's neat in its own way.
