Hi everyone,
So I have a production with several projects (music, episodes, broll, interviews, etc). It's a large project with over 100 interviews. I have one project per episode (3 in total) and they all share the same source materials (over 100 multicam interviews). In one of the projects, I'm able to edit the transcriptions of the sequences with no problem. The other two projects I'm unable to do so (I click on the words on the tranxscript and nothing happens). I can't figure out what I've done differently between projects...
I'm working on Premire pro 25.1.0 and my machine is Mac Studio Apple M1 Max with 32 Gb RAM running Sequoia 15.3
Thanks,
Marcos H.
HI @marcosh13,
Have the projects been updated through multiple versions of Premiere Pro? If so, that might be at the core of the problem. Let us know more details about the history of the production, if you don't mind. I hope more details will help the community or the team resolve the problem.
Sorry for the frustration.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Yes, as this project is going on for over 2 years now, I probably updated Premiere a couple of times over the period.
I wish I could have records to help me establish when I updated the program but i don't. I believe the three projects in question were created the same day. As this production is quite complex, I ended up creating several projects that are "daisy-chained" in a way.
On the bottom, I have several projects with INTERVIEW PROXIES (created from two cameras and sound clips). There are 4 of such projects (we can call them A, B, C and D). I then created a higher level projects with MULTICAM INTERVIEWS of these clips, following the same criteria of organization (we may call them MULTI A, MULTI B, MULTI C and MULTI D). These multicam clips are the sources that I use to build assemblies which reside in a higher level project (EPISODE 1, EPISODE 2, EPISODE 3). When I bring the multicam clips into the assembly sequences I created on these projects they already have been transcribed. And I can't edit the transcription on either the EPISODE 2 and 3 nor on 3 of 4 the MULTICAM projects I created.
One thing i noticed is that the MULTICAM project I can edit the sequence transcript is the only one which I didn't transcribe the PROXIES in the PROXIES PROJECT, but the MULTICAMs in the MULTICAM projects.
I hope that helps give a little more context.
Thanks a lot,
Marcos H.

Hi @marcosh13,
Thanks for the info. I find that after each major update, I need to recheck all the linking issues and make sure everything works as expected. I have run across anomalies before by moving slightly outside the prescribed workflow. Once something doesn't behave, I rebuild it inside the updated project or import the old project into a newer one. Usually things are fine after an update, but sometimes, you need to bring some items "up to date." I hope the advice helps.
Thanks,
Kevin

There could be a few reasons why you’re unable to edit the transcription in certain sequences. Here are some things to check:
Make sure the Automatically Set In/Out Points button (the two curly brackets icon) at the top of the Text panel is enabled. This feature allows Timeline selections to correspond with text selections.
Check the icon in the bottom left of the Text panel:
Static transcripts do not support text-based editing. To check if your transcript is static:
