So yesterday I received help in this forum post (https://community.adobe.com/t5/Premiere-Pro/Program-viewer-is-blank/m-p/10616695#M227125

Today I am working on some videos and while working, my program window stops responding, So I close and relaunch premiere. If I launch it regularly, the program window stays black, if I reset the preferences it works until it freezes. I just got the computer for work on Monday. The computer is -

CUK ASUS ROG Strix Scar II GL504GW Gamer Notebook (Intel i7-8750H, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 1TB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8GB, 15.6" Full HD IPS 144Hz 3ms, Windows 10 Home)

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

It could be a video driver issue.

Try downloading a video driver from ASUS:

Hey Bob, So I realized something. when premiere has been giving me that issue, it has been when i have had it on an external screen. since i am using a laptop, i have been using it on my integrated screen (main display) and have not had issues. but my screen is a bit small, so i would prefer using one of my external screens, but if thats not possible i can definitely just work off of my primary display. Any thoughts?

Are any other applications behaving badly, or is it only Premiere Pro?

I wonder if it could be a heat issue?

Hey Bob, I still need to reset the preferences often. I was actually just working on a video and added footage from my project folder to the timeline and the program screen went black and I can't get it back. I plan on resetting it but would love to not have to do this as often as I have had to so far. Any input would be appreciated.

Try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site.
