Image sequences not playing back in Premiere Pro 2020

I work all the time with .png sequences.

Premiere Pro 2020 (14.0) imports the sequences but doesn't play them.

Playback is correct importing the same sequences in PP2019.

This is a huge problem, is a fix expected?

Hi andy-mario!

Thank you for reaching out. I understand that .png sequences don't play for you in Premiere Pro 2020.

  • What are the specifications of your computer? [OS, RAM, GPU, CPU]

Have you made sure that you have selected Image Sequence while importing your image sequence?

I hope that helps.

Thanks,

Hi,

yes I confirm checkbox was checked and sequences were imported in the correct way.

Specs:
Windows 10 pro

i7 4770k

64gb ram
2 x Nvidia 980ti

I can assure you that the same image sequence is playing smoothly in AE and Premiere 2019 in the same workstation.

Have you tried using a proxy workflow?  I know that's not a solution, but might be a workaround.  Not even sure how AME will handle creating proxies from an image sequence.

Hi,

yes that's how I managed to finish the job, making some Prores using AME. But in the long run, this is not suitable for our usual workflow.

Found another couple of threads with the same issue so I think Adobe is aware of the issue and a fix will be present in the next patch.
