Hi,
I have a subtitle in srt ( made in an another software - Subtitle Edit - and I want to import it into Premiere.
I have looked into the forum where this topic has been discussed but did find sollution to the problem so I try again.
Its 2 things.
1. When I drag the file into the timeline I have to resync the start. It is a way to sync the time in the srt-file with the timeline automaticly?
The first things was not so hard to live with but the other one where harder
2. The srt-file captions is too small when its imported.
I tried first to scale it up in the effects-window but that made the letters a bit blurry?
Then I opened up the caption setting by double-click on the srt-file in the assets-window. Then I could set the fonts bigger for each title. A bit too much work but I tried it out.
But then I realised that the "srt-movie" hade a default size which was the black BG behind the white text. And if the lext was too long it was wider than the box/video so you could not see it all.
Anyoen the best wayt to adjust these settings inside premiere.
I also tried the final cut + png export from Subtitle Edit but I wanted white text with black box as background.

This is an old thread. There have been better options in various versions since.
For example, new in 2019 (not sure which version, but verified it is there in 2019.0.2), is an import captions setting (button in Captions panel, lower left), that allows you to override the file characteristics for srt and stl imports. You can import an srt as open captions or closed; set font style characteristics, etc.
So what specific dot version of PR are you running? And what problems are you having?
I suggest st

Thanks,
I tried this but the options in the caption tab was greyed out.
Tried some of the options in the Modify Clip window but did not succeed that tab to open for selection.

thankyou for this response! yes I have been having trouble. I imported the
.srt, but it took FOREVER to figure out how to make changes to it. I had
to right click on the file in the media browser window and I got to those
options. that was not intuitive, nor could I find that almost anywhere in
any info, thread or tutorial. I didn't find any tutorials on using closed
captions (on the adobe website) that were current. only one video from
2013. are there any updated tutorials on this? Does PPro yet have an
automator for certain languages? I automate it using youtube, then export
the.srt then import in PPro. Was haivng laot of issues, finally figured
out a workaround. I think it's the current version of PPRo CC 2018

Main page for the PR forum:
To the right of the Welcome section, see "Get Editing Quickly."
And in the welcome section, see links for "user guide" and for "tutorials."
Same for After Effects:
To the right, "Getting Started."
And yes, these forums are a great resource. On that main forum page for PR or AE, below the welcome section, see "Find Answers." If a search doesn't turn up anything, see "Start a discussion" at the bottom of the page.
Both of these programs are complex and require systematic learning time. Enjoy!

Does Bob's info work? Are you already logging into the forum to make your replies? If so, his instructions should do the trick.

Sorry to hear it. Call Adobe support, but you want the video queue, and I think they are weekdays only.
In the meantime, I hope someone can suggest troubleshooting you can do.
You need to post a screenshot of the PR 13 (2019) error message.
Do you have both the 2018 and 2019 versions installed? That is okay.
FYI, you cannot roll back to 12.0.0; the only version available for reinstall is 12.1.2, and that is probably the version you have.
